Company Profile
Supporting small industry and hobbyist engineering
made in Canada
Durham Robotics was incorporated in Ontario Canada on January 2003 for the expressed purpose of bringing advanced automation manufacturing techniques and stategies into the hands of small industry and hobbyist engineering.
Motion Controller, Stepper Motor Drives , CNC Kit
Durham Robotics manufactures an industrial strength 3 or 4 axes Motion Controller, rugged Stepper Motor Drives and easy-to-build CNC Router Kits... which are affordable to both the Small Machine Shop looking to convert to CNC ( computer numeric control ), as well as the HiTech hobbyist who likes to dabble in robotics.
Polar Drive is our dependable stepper motor drive
Our Critical Motion controller accepts G-Code and sends step and direction signals to the stepper motor drives resulting in precisely coordinated motion in up to four axes of motion * finishing beta testing
Our new Axiom CNC Kit contains a complete set of mechanical components and fasteners to let you build a precision CNC machine
Experience required
We understand that it takes a good competence to build and setup a precision CNC machine... as well as various technical skills ranging from interface wiring through safe knowledge of power supplies, configuring controls and control software ... all the way through mechanical drawing and parts design to precision machining.
Practicing Machining skills... takes time
Most of these skills can be learned in a short period of study... with the exception of machining... its one of those things like learning to play a musical instrument... you just have to practice to be able to perform with some skill.
Build your own CNC machine Kit
you dont need skill if you have technique *
DR'S Axiom CNC Router Kit can be built and setup using only a few machining skills... if you can operate a drill press safely and tap a few holes... you can build the Axiom
Axiom is a complete mechanical kit
it contains everything you need to build a precise gantry style CNC router
hardened and ground guides and induction hardened ballscrews includes stepper motors, mounts and couplings all mounting hardware is supplied
* no offense to our master machinist friends
" Our design goals have been to reduce electronic and mechanical complexity by using embedded microprocessors and leading edge techniques for switching power to optimize performance
Using a modular approach to our mechanical design led to a simplication in our manufacturing of a CNC Kit that combines performance and economy.
... our result being a rugged and easily manufactured ... and so cost effective stepper motor drive and motion controller and an innovative, easy-to-build CNC kit.
( less components... fewer things to fail... fewer parts to assemble and test... fewer parts to buy... so lower cost of goods sold... lower testing costs... lower manufacturing cost... means a lower overall cost to the end user ) "
Hi, I'm Gary Davies, it's my job to improve the quality and efficiency of Durham Robotic's manufacturing operations and bring my clients a well-priced, quality product.
We can provide our clients with guidance in the application of modern high efficiency Stepper Motor Drives. These applications will include CNC Machining as well as custom applications. We welcome the Hobbyist whom we recognise as the real driving force behind industry’s implementation.
Our uniqueness comes from our diverse experience in the fields of computer science, microprocessor and logic design, electronics measurement and design, cnc machine maintenance/repair, mechanical design/manufacture and machining. This enables both a wide and in-depth perspective when integrating and simplifying automated system design.
